Week 8: Roles of Institutions in Sustainable Development
Salam everyone ! Welcome back to my blogspot for the 8th time. This week, we focused on SDG 16 (Peace, Justice & Strong Institutions) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), which are all about working together through strong systems and institutions to make sure the rest of the SDGs can be achieved. Our Prof. talked about the Role Of Instituitions and how important it is in achieving the goals of SDGs.
The Role of Institutions
Institutions are the backbone of society. They include:
-
Governments
-
NGOs
-
Private sectors
-
Community groups
These institutions create policies, manage resources, and ensure development plans are followed. Globally, organizations like the UN Sustainable Development Group (UNSDG) help countries by offering advice and tracking progress.
Our Nation's effort?
Malaysia is committed to the SDGs. Here's how our country is working towards them:
-
The National SDG Council, led by the Prime Minister
-
National development plans (11MP, 12MP, 13MP) that include SDG goals
-
An SDG portal to track progress
-
Involvement from all sectors: government, private sector, NGOs, and student
-
Learning about the SDGs
-
Joining campaigns and events
-
Making small lifestyle changes (like recycling or saving energy)
-
Spreading awareness on social media
