Week 10 Measurement, Indices and Indicators for Sustainable Development and SDG

  Hi guys !, This lecture really opened my eyes to how crucial measurable outcomes are for sustainability efforts. I found the Malaysian Shariah Index particularly inspiring since it’s based on Maqasid Shariah, which connects deeply with my belief in justice as a khalifah. It reminds me that our group project should truly benefit everyone involved. I’m thinking about a composting initiative at IIUM, where we could track indicators like the amount of food waste reduced (output) and improvements in soil health (impact), which would tie nicely into SDG 2. The focus on impact indicators, such as better community health, made me realize the bigger potential our project could have. That said, I do feel a bit overwhelmed by the challenge of designing clear and precise indicators, there’s a worry that we might miss some important factors. Still, the Qur’anic emphasis on accountability pushes me to ensure our project is transparent and well-monitored. I’m excited to apply what I’ve learn...
